On April 5th, 2008 the local channel VOT presented the Society program devoted to problems of homeless and neglected children. Maria Bogacheva managing the Department for Social and Legal Support of the charity organization Shelter-Transit was invited as guest speaker.

On April 16-17th, 2008 a two-days international conference ‘Cooperation in Counteraction to People Trafficking in North-West of Russia, Baltic States and Nordic countries’ was held in Smolny Cathedral of St. Petersburg. The event was organized by the regional social organization Stellit.

The conference united representatives of the city Committee for Labour and Social Protection, Consuls of Denmark and Sweden, representatives of the Nordic Council of Ministers, members of the OSCE Secretariat, representatives of the Ministries of Justice and Police of Norway and Estonia, members of Ministries for Internal Affairs of Latvia and Lithuania and many others. Marina Ryabko, Head of our shelter also spoke at the conference.

She spoke about our shelter, highlighting the specific activity of the organization, and shared plans on future work of the staff aimed at the shelter development.

On April 26th 2008, the Rotary Club organized the charitable concert. The event was held in the city Officer’s Club under support of the Committee for Labour and Social Protection of St. Petersburg.  The collected funds will be channeled in rehabilitation programs of Shelter-Transit.

On April 08th, 2008 the tutor of the Home School E.M. Shumilina defended the thesis paper to obtain the first qualification.  The work was devoted to problems and future development of the Home School in our shelter. The author presented project planning and subjects to be taught to preschool children. The paper has a great practical importance being provided with the multipage appendix.

On April 4th, 2008, the tutors conducted the fascinating lesson devoted to forthcoming spring for preschool children. The kids recollected spring signs and learnt the poem by Plescheev by heart using mnemotechnics.

On April 13th, 2008 the tutors of the shelter held a special event devoted to eternal human values – love, patience and kindness.  The children tried to find definitions to the word ‘love’. They also named positive human characteristics and tried to imagine which negative characteristics were pardonable. The lesson was organized in the form of team-building games and exercises. The children learnt to be understanding and found the good and the beautiful in others.

On April 14th, 2008 children visited the Museum of Hygiene escorted by N.A. Kuznetsova, Tutor of the Art Center of the Kirov District. On April 15th, 19th and 20th, 2008 St. Petersburg witnessed shooting of the feature film devoted to life of the well-known Russian physicist Lev Landau. Some children of our shelter were selected to take part in crowd scenes of the film.

On April 18th, 2008 the tutors conducted the last lesson of the educational program Space Odyssey. Divided into two teams the children participated in various competitions devoted to space exploration. They solved enigmas and charades, performed comparison tasks and competed in attentiveness, coordination and sharpness. By the end of the session, every child made a plasticine spaceship and a cosmonaut.

On April 21st, 2008 the shelter organized the event devoted to signs and superstitions in our life. The tutors told the children about origins of superstitions pointing the prejudice and absurdity of these beliefs. At the end of the session the children were offered to share their views on weather wisdoms and omens.

On April 23d, 2008 the children took part in the Day of Friendship and Mutual Understanding. Our fosterlings shared their views on friendship and amiability. The participants were offered to pass a quiz ‘Am I a good friend?’.

 On April 26-27th 2008, all children celebrated the great Christian Holiday Easter. Little girls and boys cleaned their rooms, painted clay rabbits and eggs. On Holy Sunday children gorged on sweets and Easter cakes. Some children visited the Art Center to take part in Easter egg painting.

At present, our foster children together with the Tutor and Singing Master are preparing to celebrate the Victory Day, which is to be held on May 8th, 2008.

Дорогие друзья!

Коллектив и воспитанники Санкт-Петербургского государственного учреждения социальный приют для детей «Транзит» рады приветствовать вас на нашем сайте. Мы создали его в первую очередь для того, чтобы рассказать об уникальном детском транзитном центре, аналогов которому нет в северо-западном регионе. До 2000 года все несовершеннолетние, которые находились в Санкт-Петербурге без опеки взрослых, направлялись в Центр Временной изоляции несовершеннолетних правонарушителей. Однако, за последнее десятилетие в крупных городах появилась новая категория беспризорных детей – это дети-бегунки, которые не совершали преступлений, а просто покинули семью или воспитательное учреждение по тем или иным причинам.

В 2000 году по инициативе Правительства России в 89 субъектах федерации были созданы учреждения для несовершеннолетних, нуждающихся в социальной реабилитации. В Санкт-Петербурге социальная служба помощи иногородним детям находится в приюте «Транзит».

На страницах этого сайта мы хотели бы поделиться накопленным опытом, создать информационную площадку для наших коллег, партнеров, родителей, педагогов и людей, неравнодушных к проблеме беспризорничества в России.
